TX FIREFIGHTER INJURED BY SPEEDING DRIVER RUNNING THRU SCENE

A firefighter at the scene of a crash near Fort Bliss was injured by debris after a car drove through the scene and hit a pole.

According to a spokesperson with the El Paso Fire Department, the firefighter suffered minor injuries and police detained the driver of the car.

El Paso police said the vehicle that drove through the scene was speeding and also struck a fire truck.

This happened at the scene of a crash that left five people injured near Fort Bliss Monday evening.

According to officials, a vehicle lost control along Loop 375 near Iron Medics Drive and crashed near a wall at Fort Bliss around 6:39 p.m.

Five people were taken to a local hospital, four with minor injuries and one with life-threatening injuries, according to officials.

The Texas Department of Transportation said all northbound lanes of traffic are closed on Loop 375 at N. Montana Avenue and traffic is being diverted to exit at Edgemere Exit 36 and travel onto Montana.

Special Traffic Investigators and officials with the Texas Department of Transportation are on scene investigating.
