DALLAS A paramedic was recovering from a skull fracture Monday after someone threw a car jack at the windshield of the ambulance in which he was riding. The ambulance was returning from a call about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday along FM 730 near Azle when a car jack flew through the windshield. Donnie Stone, 30, was struck in the head, said Paul Smith, director of emergency medical services for the Parker County Hospital District. Mr. Stone, 30, suffered a skull fracture and laceration, Mr. Smith said. The driver of the ambulance was not injured. A second ambulance was sent to the scene.
The paramedics saw a person on the side of the road throw something as they drove by, Mr. Smith said. The windshield was shattered. It was a senseless act of violence, Mr. Smith said. A spokesperson for the Parker County Sheriffs Department could not be reached for comment Monday because of the holiday.
