Authorities in northern Illinois say icy roads led to a chain-reaction accident today on Interstate 88 in Sugar Grove that left six people injured.
Sugar Grove Fire Department Deputy Chief Dave Adler says a pickup truck rolled over into the median. Next, an S-U-V spun out and wound up in the median. Then, a third vehicle lost control and struck the S-U-V. Five people were injured in that crash, including a Sugar Grove paramedic who was helping with the first accident.
Illinois State Police Master Sergeant Allison Renaud says the victims were taken to area hospitals where they were treated and released. Renaud says the highway was shut down for about 45 minutes in both directions, but has reopened.
