PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — A Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Captain was shot and killed Monday evening.
According to officials, the incident happened at the 4500 block of Artesa Way South.
The victim, who was identified as James Gilliard, 48, was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
An investigation is now underway.
According to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, Gillard was a member of PBCFR for 21 years.
“Our Fire Rescue family is working together to support his family at this difficult time,” read a statement.
James is survived by his wife, daughter, son and extended family.
Funeral arrangements are being finalized.
