Units arrived on scene with heavy fire showing from a three story OMD, first in engine laid in ladder to the front. Command requested the second alarm struck. The operator of Quint 39 was critically injured when the stream from a ladder pipe struck him and knocked him off the top of the quint. He fell approx. 10′ to the ground and 24′ feet from the rear of the quint. Medics flew him flown to University of Penn with a skull fracture, orbital fracture, broken wrist, broken forearm, severe facial laceration and a concussion. A firefighter from station 36 had chest pains and was transported to be checked out.
