One of the two Firefighters who were burned last month while battling a wildfire in the Oklahoma panhandle has died in the Line of Duty. Balko Firefighter Jason Smith died Sunday, 33 days after the incident, after taking a sudden turn for the worse. Smith and brother Firefighter Tyler Morris were burned April 5 when their truck rolled over in a ditch. The two were operating at the Beaver River Fire in Beaver County. They were treated in the burn unit at University Medical Center in Lubbock.
Firefighter Smith was released from the hospital on April 19 and he had a checkup on April 27 and his wife said “everything looks positive.” They were supposed to go back for a follow-up this week.
