NY FIREHOUSE 3 ALARM FIRE

Brian Kazmierzak    July 6, 2019    No Comments

A fully involved three-alarm blaze that broke out overnight heavily damaged Tivoli Fire Station.

The fire began late in the evening on Friday, July 5 and quickly spread before being contained at around 10:40 p.m.

No injuries were reported, but the station’s garage ceiling nearly collapsed and a pumper tanker truck and ambulance inside the garage were severely damaged. In addition, parts of the front façade at the front of the station burned.

“Thankful no one was hurt, but the Tivoli Fire Department suffered a major loss,” said Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro, who responded to the scene.

The County Fire Investigation Team remains on site to determine cause and origin of the fire, according to Molinaro. “We are fortunate to have amazing volunteers who all came to assist,” said Molinaro, who grew up in Tivoli and was a member of the department,

“Equipment can be replaced and structures rebuilt,” Molinaro said. “Having been a member of this Tivoli Fire Department and mayor of this amazing village, I know how deeply they feel this loss, but also how resilient they are. Tivoli will rebuild and Dutchess County will be there, shoulder to shoulder with them.”
