RIDGEWOOD — A firefighter was injured in a five-alarm blaze that destroyed three businesses and displaced about 10 people on North Broad Street, authorities said.
Firefighters arrived at the scene just after 9:15 p.m. Sunday, where they immediately had to save a woman that was trapped on the third floor, Fire Capt. Scott Schmidt said. The woman was taken out of the building through a window and was treated for smoke inhalation, Schmidt said.
One of the roughly 125 firefighters who responded to the fire suffered a burn that Schmidt described as minor, but the firefighter will likely be put on leave for about three weeks, he said.
The fire broke out at the building housing Bagelicious at 19 Broad St. and spread to an adjacent building at 23 N. Broad St., which holds the Mediterraneo restaurant.
