HOUSTON — Firefighters battling a southwest Houston house fire pulled a second alarm Monday night after they thought one of their own came up missing, Local 2 reported.
A second crew was called after a firefighter battling flames inside the home on Hazen and Regentview did not respond to a radio call. “We have an electronic accountability system. They’re inside fighting fire and sometimes they don’t know their alarm is going off,” Houston Fire Department Capt. Gilbert Bennett said.
The firefighter was eventually located, but another firefighter was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital for heat exhaustion. He’s expected to be OK. Authorities said no one was home when the fire started. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
