MILWAUKEE —
The Milwaukee Fire Department said human error led to the delayed emergency response to a man shot in Milwaukee. Video shows him lying on the ground for at least 15 minutes with a gunshot wound before receiving medical treatment.
Milwaukee police said he was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Milwaukee Fire Department Assistant Chief Joshua Parish explained that paramedics initially went to the wrong address Wednesday, causing the delay.
“The dispatched units went to a different spot in the city,” Parish said.
A witness sent WISN 12 News this video of the moments after the shooting. The video shows neighbors on the phone surrounding the man lying on the sidewalk. About three minutes later, police arrived and cut the man’s clothes off of him. It takes another 12 minutes for paramedics to arrive.
Parish says the department’s goal is nine minutes.
