We have been advised that FF Dave Campbell, a well known and nationally recognized fire investigator and Volunteer FF with the Wallace VFD (Hanover County, N.C.) was operating at the scene of a crash when he was struck by a car today. He is reported to be in serious condition. We’ll provide more information as we can either here or on our home page.
UPDATE: FIREFIGHTER CLOSE CALL IN NORTH CAROLINA:Yesterday mornings house fire and explosion in Kernersville (NC) was caught on tape. One Firefighter who was inside the house when it blew was taken to the hospital but has been released. Reports are that the FF and crew were doing an interior attack through the front door…they were on scene less than 15 minutes and the house exploded. Here is the link and the local story:
FDNY DOUBLE LODD TESTIMONY AT TRIAL:
As you will remember, on "Black Sunday", January 23, 2005, 3 FDNY Firefighters lost their lives in the Line of Duty. The fire in Brooklyn took the life of FF Richard T. Sclafani, 37 when he become entangled in a dwelling fire.
A fire the same day, in The Bronx, took the lives of Lt. Curtis Meyran, 46, of Battalion 26, and Firefighter John Bellew, 37, of Ladder 27, both who died in the Line of Duty at the East 178th Street fire. The critically injured were Firefighters Jeffery Cool and Joey DiBernardo, of Rescue 3, Eugene Stolowski and Brendan Cawley, both of Ladder 27. FF Cawley’s brother, Michael Cawley, a Firefighter with Ladder 136 in Queens, died in the Line of Duty at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

FF DUI WHILE DRIVING RESPONDING FIRE APPARATUS IN MICHIGAN:
A Missaukee County (MI) Firefighter has been suspended…charged with driving a fire apparatus while drunk. FF Doug Shaw, 49, a 20 year member of the Lake Missaukee FD’s drunk driving charges follow a December 27 incident when cops say FF Shaw showed up intoxicated to the scene of a fire. The FD says Shaw will remain suspended until his case is resolved.
