FDNY: A Deputy Chief Inspector with the FDNY has died from the coronavirus on Friday. Syed Rahman, a 22-year veteran of the fire department, was part of the clean-up at ground zero after the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks, according to his family. DCI Rahman died Sunday at the age of 59 of C-19 and WTC impact. He was a husband and a father of four young middle school boys. Our condolences to all those affected by this loss. Rest In Peace.
PENNSYLVANIA: The Tullytown Fire Company (Bucks County, PA) is mourning the loss of 50-year-old Assistant Fire Chief Rick Johnson after he died on Saturday morning due to COVID-19. Chief Johnson went to the hospital on March 18, he also had an underlying condition. Because of how contagious coronavirus is, Johnson’s friends and family could not visit him. Chief Johnson was a volunteer Firefighter for 27 years. He held several ranks and several members of his family were also volunteers. Our condolences to all those affected by this loss. KENYA AFRICAN LINE OF DUTY DEATH-VEHICLE CRASH
One Firefighter died and another was injured in the Line of Duty when the vehicle they were travelling in lost control and rolled several times. They were driving to Namanga border town on a Covid-19 fumigation exercise on Thursday evening. Our condolences to all those affected. Rest In peace. Firefighters all over Africa are being used as primary personnel for cleaning and fumigating for Covid 19.
RUSSIA FIREFIGHTER KILLED IN WILDLAND FIRE
A Firefighter has died in a major brush fire (determined to be arson) in the Russian southern city of Rostov-on-Don on Saturday. The Russian Emergencies Ministry’s press office told TASS that a Mi-8 helicopter and a fire train were engaged in the firefighting efforts, as well as 140 firefighters and 50 vehicles. The firefighting efforts are hampered by strong wind gusting to 17 meters per second.
