A Charlotte volunteer Firefighter arrived on the scene of a rollover crash around 1130 hours Saturday morning. Before the Firefighter was able to get out of his truck, an SUV rear ended him. Other Charlotte fIrefighters arrived and they began to treat the injured firefighter and other people involved in the original rollover and the two people in the SUV who rear ended the Firefighter. Fortunately the Firefighter received minor injuries and was treated and released.
They had their night crew flying into the helipad at UVA, and about a mile to a mile-and-a-half the pilot reported that he thought he saw what was an aircraft distant. The Lynchburg-based pilot quickly realized it was not an aircraft, and it suddenly was right in front of him.
In order to avoid the collision, he had to make a very evasive maneuver, rolling the aircraft away from the drone. Despite the scare, the helicopter was able to land at UVA Medical Center safely.
In his off duty time Vlad was a volunteer Firefighter with NYC’s Richmond Engine Co. 1 located on Staten Island. https://www.facebook.
