We regret to pass on that a Chicago Firefighter has died in the Line of Duty after a house fire on Chicago’s South Side, early this morning, 2 other Firefighters were injured. The fire started inside an occupied 2.5 story dwelling at 120th and Wallace around 0330 hours. During operations, a Firefighter was reported down, and a 3-11 Alarm, Mayday, and EMS Plan 1 was activated at about 0405 hours. The Firefighter reported “down” was located by his hose line about 0410 hours.
Reports are that they believe the fire started in the attic of the home, which spread to its two neighboring buildings. 49-year-old Firefighter Jermaine Pelt.died at the hospital, 2 other firefighters are in stable condition.
