A vehicle driven by a suspected drunken driver and a fire engine collided late Friday in north Modesto, according to police. There were no injuries, and the driver was cited and released on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI, according to Sgt. Pat Kimes. Kimes said the fire engine was code 3, with its lights and siren on, and headed south on Tully Road when it slowed to make a left turn onto Palmilla Drive. TOP VIDEOS × The driver of the other vehicle was going north on Tully and did not have her headlights on, Kimes said. Firefighters reported the collision at 11:59 p.m. Kimes said the driver of the fire engine did not see the other vehicle as the truck began its turn. He said the two vehicles hit head-on. There was minor damage. The watch commander’s report identified the engine as MFD Engine 11, Kimes said. Fire Station 11 is at Carver Road and Pelandale Avenue, about a mile from the crash scene. No information was available on the type of emergency firefighters were responding to and how the crash affected the response. A battalion chief could not be reached for comment Saturday. Kimes identified the suspected DUI driver as Lisa Marie Sanchez. Her age, city of residence and type of vehicle she was driving were not available.
