A Riggs Ambulance Service ambulance rolled on its side about 8:25 a.m. at Meadows and West Olive avenues while responding to a medical emergency on Denver Avenue. The driver, 22-year-old emergency medical technician Megan Hazeltine, and paramedic Derrick Olzack were not seriously injured. After the ambulance was righted, Hazeltine and Olzack were pulled out by a firefighter.
Struble said Hazeltine was westbound on Olive Avenue when she suddenly lost control of the ambulance, which struck a curb, became airborne, flipped up into the bushes and hit a tree before rolling on the driver side. The brand-new ambulance was demolished in the accident.
