Stevens Point’s Fire Chief says a mechanical failure appears to be responsible for an ambulance crashing into a fire station. Two paramedics stopped at Fire Station One to restock their ambulance’s medicine supply. After being called out, the ambulance veered off the road and crashed through the side of Fire Station Two. Responders from Station one took over the paramedic’s call.
Rescuers also responded to the two paramedics.
The equipment at Fire Station Two is now being stored at Station One and at Plover’s Fire Department. A contractor has been assessing the damage, but no repairs can be made until after the accident’s reconstruction. The State Patrol is running the investigation.
