There are numerous quotes related to learning from the past. here are many-pick what you like:
Since I was a kid, I have always been fascinated with history-primarily American and local history. As a part of that, I would sit at night and read the World Book Encyclopedia over and over …mostly the “fire” parts…it never got old.
As I have continued, I have never lost any of my interest for any of this profession-and definitely never lost interest in firefighting history. From apparatus to tools and equipment to events where firefighters experienced success-and tragedy-I really believe in the old adage that we need to understand where we have been-to best understand where we need to go.
Of course, today, with the internet-there are few limits to what we can look and and learn from-and that’s where we are going today….
A NEW ADDITION:
We are adding a new featured section to www.FireFighterCloseCalls.com and it is pretty cool. Everyday, thanks to the untiring efforts of an outstanding and highly respected veteran Firefighter from Florida, Karl K. Thompson you will be able to review “this day in Firefighter History”. He’s a county Fire Marshal & Division Chief in Florida and he also served with the State FM’s office. Karl’s decades of experience (starting in 1972) and his deep interest and passion in firefighting history helps us all learn from the past.
We hope you’ll enjoy this new daily feature as much as well do. Additionally, if you have any additions that should be noted related to significant firefighter history, you can submit them to Karl on the FFCC FF History page.
CHECK OUT THE NEW FIREFIGHTER CLOSE CALLS DAILY FIREFIGHTER HISTORY:
…be sure to check it out everyday-as you’ll be amazed-and educated-on our history.
Once again our sincerely thanks to Karl for joining our team of Firefighters & Fire Officers who voluntarily run www.FireFighterCloseCalls.com …which started, remains and will remain a 100% non-commercial and ad free resources for Firefighters worldwide.
Take Care. Be Careful. Pass It On.
