We regret to pass on that 29 year old (Madison WI) Firefighter/Paramedic Richard Garner died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 1st after his shift with the fire department.
Firefighter-Paramedic Garner Jr. completed a 48 hour shift at 0700 hrs on April 1, 2018, during which he responded to nineteen emergency calls. Later that day, between the times of 1200hrs and 1300hrs, Garner collapsed at a private residence
Garner joined the Madison Fire Department in 2012 and served as a Firefighter/EMT until he became a paramedic in 2017. Funeral services will be held in Garner’s hometown in California. A memorial service in Madison is tentatively planned for Friday. We will post details on Twitter as soon as we receive more information.
Our condolences to all those affected. Rest In Peace.
