You’ll remember last June when the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department, and specifically the suspension of Captain Danny Dwyer, made national headlines.
Apparently, instead of waiting for his two truck crew members to finish gearing up, Captain Dwyer crawled inside with 2 Firefighters from a different engine company, with a hose line because there was a reported victim within. They found her, removed her, tried to save her- but it was too late. Ms. Sally Skrine succumbed at the scene.
After the incident, Captain Dwyer was written up by superiors for not waiting for the rest of his crew before going in. Here is one article from their local Atlanta paper:
Tomorrow night-MONDAY MAY 4th 2000 Hours (8pm duh) you can hear directly from Captain “What Would Danny Do” Dwyer his account of that day-his actions-and where he is today. The crew at “Gettn Salty” will have him on for a discussion that will provide his side of this event-an event that any Firefighter or Officer may find themselves in.
Check it out tomorrow night (Monday) at 2000 Hours:
