With Fathers Day coming up I thought about Dad relationships. While my Dad passed away in 1998, and we miss him terribly each day, memories and great stories are great to keep the memories alive.
As a Dad myself, I hold nothing more precious than my role as a Dad and a Grand-Dad (a/k/a Poppie). I often think about how great it would be if my Dad were around to see whats going on these days both within my family as well as in the world. I think that probably the FIRST thing he would do is run for President. Seriously. In his words. “I’ll straighten this sh!t out”…and he would….I’ve seen it.
Look, he came over on the boat as a baby, he landed in NYC, grew up in Brooklyn, went to War (WWII, The Big One), “Sure, I got shot by those bastids but I shot more of them they did of us!” , continued fighting, came home, worked in a business, got married, bought a house, got two kids, was blessed with 3 grandkids and little slowed him down. He had a lot. And he gave a lot. I have no doubt that so much of who I am is because of my Dad (the good parts). One of the things he showed in the category of ACTIONS NOT WORDS is his giving attitude. He gave back 100 times what he made and had. Anyone who was around him for 5 minutes saw that…and received. Not unlike many of “the greatest generation” …he understood how blessed we and our Country were and he demonstrated his appreciation by giving back.
I have a lot of friends-I am pretty lucky. Specifically about 200 of them who understand about giving back.
Of course I am talking about the *contributors to the books “Pass It On-What We Know, What We Want You To Know” as well as the recently released “Pass It On-The 2nd Alarm”
Everyone of those contributing writers (*listed here: www.PassItOnFire.com spent hours working (based upon a lifetime and career of experiences) on their contribution and made nothing. Not a nickle. But that’s pretty much what our Dad’s taught us-to give back. And these men and women did. 100% of the royalties are donated. 100%.
So with Fathers Day coming up, consider what a Dad you know-in the fire service or related to the fire service-needs:
#1-A Dad needs time-time with family, kids, grandkids-the good stuff.
#2-Dad needs these books.
…so please consider helping us raise needed funds for The Firefighter Cancer Support Network, The Chief Ray Downey Scholarship Charity and the NFFF.
The books are available
(Checkout the pic of Gramma GG and the little Great Grand Baby G’s!..how ’bout that!)
Thanks for your consideration and purchase-I promise you that you will love the books, find them of great interest, enjoyment and value …and that the money you spend on these is needed and is appreciated by the 3 charities we/us/you support.
Thanks for your consideration.
