A volunteer firefighter was flown to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious injuries following a crash Monday night.
State Police say the firefighter, who is said to be a member of the Fancher Hulberton Murray Fire Company, was traveling eastbound on Route 31 in Murray around 5:40 p.m., responding to a call.
The volunteer firefighter’s vehicle collided with the back of a truck between Hindsburg and Fancher Roads. Troopers say the truck was turning toward a grain silo at the time.
Witnesses told troopers the volunteer firefighter’s vehicle did have a flashing blue light on at the time, and had passed some vehicles. Troopers said it is not yet clear what specifically led up to the collision with the truck.
The firefighter was flown by helicopter to Strong Memorial Hospital with injuries described as serious.
