Adding to the tragic news regarding the USS Fitzgerald crash is that at least one of the lost is also a Firefighter in his home town.
Gunner’s Mate Seaman Dakota Rigsby is also a Firefighter with the Lake Monticello Volunteer Fire Department, in Fluvanna County, VA. His Mom is also a Firefighter with that fire department as well.
The other victims have been identified as the victims on Monday as Yeoman 3rd Class Shingo Alexander Douglass, 25, from San Diego, California; Sonar Technician 3rd Class Ngoc T Truong Huynh, 25, from Oakville, Connecticut; Fire Controlman 2nd Class Carlosvictor Ganzon Sibayan, 23, from Chula Vista, California; Personnel Specialist 1st Class Xavier Alec Martin, 24, from Halethorpe, Maryland; and Fire Controlman 1st Class Gary Leo Rehm Jr., 37, from Elyria, Ohio.
Their bodies were located in that flooded compartment of the ship where it was struck. Investigators now face trying to determine how a sophisticated U.S. warship collided with a container ship four times its size. Our condolences to all-Rest In Peace.
