As an update to yesterday tragic event in Clinton, Iowa, Lt. Eric Hosette, 33, was severely injured after that explosion rocked those silo storage bins. Lt. Hosette was taken to Mercy Medical where medical crews tried to revive him but were unsuccessful, and he died in the Line of Duty. Lt. Hosette had 12 years on the job and leaves his wife and daughter.
The initial turn out was for a reported smoldering fire discovered in silo storage bins at the Archer-Daniels-Midland loading facility, around 0545. The department’s on duty shift responded and then handed the scene off to the on coming shift crew around 0700. The explosion occurred nearly two hours later at 0845.
Firefighter Adam Cain, 23, was also injured by the blast and taken to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment where he remains critical, but is stable at last report, and is awake and breathing on his own.

FATAL FIRE RESPONSE CRASH ON LONG ISLAND
A 22 year old Long Beach (Nassau County, Long island, NY) volunteer Firefighter responding to his firehouse for a structure fire call early Saturday struck two pedestrians, killing a woman and injuring her husband, as they crossed the street. A woman, 57, and her husband, 60, were walking across the street around 0030 hours after they were leaving the Half Moon Bar and Grill.
Lots of chatter on social media about this. IMO, this certainly seems to be a “there but for the grace of God go we” situation-as we all await the facts on what exactly happened.
FATAL EMS CRASH IN ARKANSAS-WRONG WAY DRIVER
An ambulance was involved in a head-on crash this morning near Little Rock.
Just after 0500 hours an ambulance with the Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services was returning to Little Rock on I-40 when a car approached them traveling the wrong way.
The driver of the other vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The medics driving the ambulance were extracted, with the driver taking more than 30 minutes to free.
One medic had minor injuries and the other requires surgery. There was no patient inside the ambulance at the time of the crash.
