Two City of Social Circle (Georgia-east of Atlanta) Firefighters were injured (one seriously) from a crash while responding to a structure fire.
NOTE: The crash occurred at the same location as last week’s MVC incident that injured two firefighters with Walton County Fire Rescue.
WHAT HAPPENED TODAY:
From the police report: The SCFR engine was negotiating a left hand turn when the passenger side tires left the roadway to the right. The driver over corrected crossing the center line, the driver again over corrected, traveling back across the roadway, now yawing clockwise. The engine left the roadway, traveled down an embankment and overturned/rolled. Impact with the ground due to rollover caused a total collapse of the cab of the fire truck.
Both Firefighters were transported to medical facilities to be treated for injuriies with the apparatus driver being admitted to Grady ICU in serious but stable condition. The Firefighter riding officer was treated and released.
