Kelowna Professional tweeted out an update on the firefighter injured in the fire earlier today.
“An update on our KFD Captain who injured today at this 2nd alarm structure fire,” reads the Tweet. “He is in stable condition at KGH and is expected to make a full recovery. Thanks for all the kind thoughts. #besafe out there. @bcpffa @IAFFCanada #Kelowna.”
First arriving crew observed smoke coming from the roof but no visible flames
“An entry team was sent into the second floor where there were three small suites. Smoke was visible on the second floor. The crew started opening up the ceiling to check for fire origin,” said Platoon Captain Tim Light. “Crews on the roof trenched the roof to cut the fire off.”
One firefighter was sent to hospital when an explosion blew off a piece of the siding from the building striking the firefighter in the chest and shoulders.
