A dedicated firefighter who was “a good man” and “always had a smile” gave no indication he was going to kill himself.
Mark Hattersley was only 36 years old when he took his own life in his loft at home on Saturday August 12.
Based at Bedminster fire station, the popular man was a member of the station’s Blue Watch at the time of his death. He had been in the fire service for 13 years.
He had showed no signs of wanting to take his own life, even going to the World Athletics Championship in London with his father-in-law just days before.
An inquest at Avon Coroners Court heard Mr Hattersley was found hanged at his Brislington home around 2pm on the day of his death.
