Two Forest Grove firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling a fire in a garage Friday.
The fire was on Ridge Pointe Drive on the west end of Forest Grove, and authorities said storage shelves on the ceiling fell on the firefighters.
“We look at signs of roof collapse and ceiling collapse but this was a different situation where this shelf was built above the garage door, it was up there and we didn’t know it was there because the garage door was blocking what was going on” said Forest Grove Fire Department spokesman Matt Johnston
“Collapses of any kind are dangerous for firefighters because there is a lot of weight up there, and firefighters wear a lot of equipment that can save them, but also injure them when they fall.”
