Two firefighters were killed Wednesday and two were seriously injured when their apparatus was burned at an industrial gas plant fire in Nepal.
Firefighters Madhusudan Mishra and Yadavraj Adhikari were killed when a gas cylinder exploded in Super Gas Industry in Patelnagar, Birgunj. Both were employees of fire department in Birgunj. While Mishra hailed from Dumre in Tanahun, Adhikari was from Lalbandi in Sarlahi, the Himalayan Times reported.
Two fire-fighters — Sabin Nepal and Arun Kumar Mahato — were seriously injured in the incident and have been sent to Kathmandu for treatment. Another firefighter was also injured, although not as seriously.
Birgunj is a city in southern Nepal, which borders India.
LP Gas Industry Association has formed a five-member committee to investigate cause of the blaze. The panel is expected to submit its report in five days.
