3 KILLED AS OHIO EMS HELICOPTER CRASHES-LODD
GEORGIA CHIEF DIES AT FLORIDA FIRE CONFERENCE
The Secret List
We regret to pass on that all 3 crew members traveling aboard a medical helicopter in Ohio were killed in the Line of Duty due to a crash early this morning.
The air ambulance was flying from Mount Caramel to pick up a patient from a Holzer Meigs Hospital in Pomeroy when Survival Flight Inc. informed authorities that it lost communication with the chopper just after 0720 hours.
After pinging the cellphone of one of the crew members, rescue and search personnel found the wreckage of the Bell 407 a few hours later near the community of Zelinski, located about 75 miles southeast of Cleveland.
The area is remote and there are no roads leading to the site, only logging trails, and crews are currently working to clear a path to bring equipment in to clean up the scene of the crash.
GEORGIA BATTALION CHIEF, 45, DIES WHILE ATTENDING FLORIDA FIRE CONFERENCE
Very sad news out of Georgia as an Effingham County Fire Battalion Chief died unexpectedly while attending the Fire Rescue East conference in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Battalion Fire Chief Matt Kicklighter, 45, died of apparent natural causes Friday night or Saturday morning, as he went to bed and didn’t wake up.
Chief Kicklighter had served with Springfield’s fire department for 11 years before becoming battalion chief for the north division volunteers when the Springfield and Effingham fire departments merged in July 2015.
Our condolences to all those affected by the Georgia and Ohio incidents.
Rest In Peace.
Take Care. Be Careful. Pass It On.
