4 firefighters, 8 others involved on Texas crash near Austin. A total of 12 people, including four Lake Travis Fire/Rescue firefighters, were involved in that crash between their fire apparatus and five other vehicles on FM 620 this afternoon.
The incident started when a Lake Travis Fire/Rescue truck rolled over on the road and struck other vehicles near Comanche Trail. EMS ambulances and a STAR Flight helicopter transported ten people to local hospitals. Two of them had serious, possibly life-threatening injuries-the other eight had non-life threatening injuries. Two of the firefighters have already been released after being treated for minor injuries.
A third firefighter treated for moderate injuries will be released shortly and a fourth firefighter is undergoing additional testing and will spend the night at Round Rock Medical Center for observation.
Lake Travis Fire/Rescue officials confirmed four of the people injured in the crash were firefighters with the department. Their injuries were not disclosed.
