A retired Scottish firefighter ended his own life as he was about to stand trial for the murder of his 70-year-old wife.
David Thomson retired from the fire service for medical reasons after a roof collapsed on him during a rescue operation. Thomas had 25 years of service, according to ITV.
Police originally charged Thomson with attempted murder after they were called to check on his wife’s welfare. She died later at a hospital and the charges were upgraded.
He was expected to stand trial in April and was out on bail. His body was found Nov. 13.
