Firefighters from three Ohio departments made initial attacks on three burning mobile homes from a distance when rounds of ammunition began going off Friday night.
According to the Morning Journal, Highlandtown, Ohio firefighters responded to explosions and fires at three single-wide trailers owned by the former leader of the county militia. No firefighter injuries were reported.
Two fire departments provided mutual aid and two others shuttled water to the scene.
The trailers were all fully involved when firefighters arrived and the exploding ammunition forced them to attack the fire from a safe distance. Highlandtown’s fire chief told the paper he did not know how much ammunition was in the trailers, but estimated that it was a large amount.
