We regret to pass on that Firefighter David E. Carr, 62, with the Brasher-Winthrop Fire Department (St Lawrence County, south of Cornwall, New York), died in the Line of Duty Saturday morning after returning home from a major fire at Curran Renewable Energy on Trade Drive.
Firefighter Carr was an active member of the Brasher-Winthrop Volunteer Fire Department since 1998 and was a member of the Winthrop Volunteer Fire Department prior to the merger of the Brasher and Winthrop Fire Departments in 1979. He was a highly decorated volunteer in the volunteer fire service and also a member, past chief and an EMT-B with the Tri-Town Volunteer Rescue Squad, Inc.
Firefighter Carr responded to the fire at Curran Renewable Energy as soon as the call came into the Brasher-Winthrop fire department. He was involved with the ground operations at the fire and was on scene until the department was released, sometime between 0400 and 0500 hours Saturday morning. FF Carr returned to the fire station to help put away equipment before going home, where he collapsed later Saturday morning.
A Line of Duty funeral service will be held for Mr. Carr at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s Church in Brasher. Firefighters from across the state are likely to be in attendance for the service.
Our condolences to all those affected.
Rest In Peace.
