A fast-moving fire ripped through a home in Hackensack, N.J., and
damaged another house Sunday, leaving a resident and a firefighter
injured.
Hackensack fire officialssaid that dozens of firefighters
battled the blaze, which broke out at 433 Park St. shortly before 5
a.m. Sunday. The fire spread to the house next door at 435 Park St., the
newspaper reported.
It took roughly 90 minutes to bring the blaze under control, as firefighters contended with icy and windy conditions.
Officials said the injured firefighter hurt his back after slipping
and falling on icy ground, while a woman being evacuated from a nearby
house suffered an asthma attack after inhaling smoke.
