A firefighter escaped serious injury overnight when a floor collapsed inside a burning bar and grill.
Ford
County Sheriff Mark Doran said the Roberts firefighter was taken to
Gibson Area Hospital, where he was treated and later released.
Doran
said the firefighter fell through a weakened floor into the basement.
Other firefighters lowered a ladder so he could climb out.
The
fire at Bubba’s Bar and Grill, 103 W. Main, was reported by a snow plow
driver about 3:30 a.m. Firefighters cleared the scene about five hours
later, but the state fire marshal’s office has been called.
Doran
said the fire does not appear to be suspicious. He could not provide a
monetary damage estimate, but said the building did receive substantial
damage.
