The South Brazos Co. (TX) FF's (neighbors to Bryan) are working to collect fire service challenge coins for the two Bryan FD Firefighters who were injured in the fire which killed Lt. Eric Wallace and Lt. Greg Pickard on the evening of Friday Feb 15, 2013. Can you help?
As you know, Probationary Firefighter Mitch Moran and Firefighter Ricky Mantey were part of the RIT team, along with Lt. Pickard who were tasked with the rescue of Lt. Wallace. Firefighters Moran and Mantey suffered severe burns during their heroic rescue of Lt. Wallace, and like Lt. Wallace, Lt. Pickard also made the supreme sacrifice and succumbed to his burns and died on February 16, 2013. Firefighters Moran and Mantey have a long painful road to recovery, as we all know the devastating results of burn injuries.
As an attempt to show unified support from the world-wide firefighting family, South Brazos Firefighter Jarrett and Lt. Framsted are asking any department or organization who wishes to participate to mail two (2) of your department, station or company challenge coins to the following address: Please contact:framsted.chris@gmail.com if you have any questions. PLEASE SEND 2 FIRE/EMS RELATED CHALLENGE COINS TO: SBCFD, c/o Andrew Jarrett, PO Box 11045, College Station, TX. 77845. Thanks.
PLEASE ALSO NOTE: The 100 Club, a Houston-based non-profit organization is assisting for the families of Wallace and Pickard. Lt. Wallace was a 12-year veteran and is survived by his wife and five children. Lt. Pickard was a 32-year veteran and is survived by his wife and two adult children.
