A Marion County Fire District 1 ambulance was involved in a collision Wednesday.
The collision occurred at Cordon and Swegle roads NE at 3:55 p.m. The passenger car’s front struck the side of the ambulance just past the driver’s side door, said battalion chief Craig LoSasso.
The ambulance was en route to a non-emergency medical call. It did not have its lights and sirens on, fire officials said.
The driver and passenger of the vehicle were not injured but the front of their vehicle was damaged, officials said.
One firefighter had a minor leg injury. The other two firefighters were uninjured. There was no patient in the ambulance at the time of the collision, LoSasso said.
The original medical call was rerouted to another ambulance, LoSasso said.
The crash is under investigation by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
