Three people have been taken to hospital after an ambulance crashed into a car in Hilton this morning.
A St John Ambulance spokesman said the ambulance was carrying a patient suffering chest pains who had been picked up in South Lake when the crash happened.
He said the car was trying to turn when it was hit by the ambulance about 10.40am.
The crash happened near the intersection of South Street and Paget Street.
The spokesman said a further two ambulances were sent to the scene and three people were taken to Fremantle Hospital, including the original patient, who was transported on the highest priority.
A paramedic who had been treating the patient in the back of the ambulance and the driver of the car that was hit were also taken to hospital.
Police are at the scene and all east bound lanes of South Street are blocked from Paget Street.
The spokesman said ambulance officers continued to care for the original patient following the crash.
He said the incident was a timely reminder for drivers to be aware of emergency vehicles.
