Tuesday, January 22, 2013 On-scene of a structure fire, one firefighter put his foot in the rungs of the ladder truck and the HEO extended the ladder. the firefighter scream loud enough to get the HEO to retract the ladder releasing his foot. The firefighter was taken to the hospital and released. His boot had about 1-2\" of room after the steal toe was bent.



1 DO NOT HAVE EXTEND OR RETRACT THE LADDER WITH ANY PERSONNEL WITH OUT PROPER FOOT PLACEMENT!


2 Make sure everyone's feet are clear.


3 turn on the voice communication between the tip of the ladder and the platform so the HEO and Firefighter can talk about the movements they are going to do.
