Written byDAMIAN GILETTOThe News JournalThree people were injured this morning when an emergency vehicle en route to a medical run collided with a school bus, an official said.
The crash happened just after 7 a.m. today when an ambulance, responding to a call for an unconscious person in Wilmington, collided with a school bus at the intersection of 4th and Franklin streets, said Capt. Richard Danner of the Wilmington Fire Department.
Two Emergency Medical Technicians on board the ambulance were rushed to Christiana Hospital. An update on their injuries and medical condition were not immediately available, Danner said.
A boy on the school bus was taken to an area hospital for observation. Details, including the age of the patient, were not immediately known, Danner said.
Wilmington police would not release any information other than the 300 block or Franklin St. is closed this morning.
The Wilmington Fire Department plans to release more details on the crash later today.
