n Friday 010413 at approximately 1402 hours the Odessa Fire Company was
alerted for an Engine and Tanker to assist Townsend Fire Company on a
Residential Fire. Rescue 26 arrived on scene to find Heavy Smoke Showing
from a Two Story Multi-Family Dwelling. Crews from R-26 discovered Fire
in a 1st Floor Apartment with extension to the Second Floor and Attic. A
firefighter from Odessa and Townsed were advancing a hoseline through a
second floor window when conditions deteriorated rapidly and they had
to bail out of the second floor window, no injuies were reported. Crews
from Tanker 24/Engine 4/Engine 24/Ambulance 24 assisted with fire
suppression/overhaul and were in service for approximately 2.5 hours.
Additional companies alerted to the incident were Port Penn, Delaware
City, Smyrna, Clayton, Cheswold, Cecilton Md, Hacks Point Md, New Castle
County Parametics, Kent County Parametics, several BLS units and
DELdot.
