GARDEN CITY, S.C. -- An ambulance flipped over when it was hit by a car in a wreck that happened Friday afternoon along US 17 at the Garden City Connector. The ambulance was flipped onto its side in the middle of the intersection during the wreck that happened at 1:40 pm.
Authorities said that a car ran a red light and hit the side of the ambulance.
No patients were in the ambulance when the crash happened. However, the ambulance driver had to be taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Crews had to cut part of the roof off the ambulance.
A white four-door car at the scene had severe front-end damage and appeared to be the vehicle that collided with the ambulance.
Traffic was blocked for US 17 and the connector at the area of the crash.
