MAN RAMS FIRE APPARTUS IN PA

Monday, December 24, 2012 A 46-year-old man is facing charges after hitting one fire vehicle and ramming another on Sunday night.

According to Bensalem Police a Bensalem man driving a Pontiac G6 struck a William Penn Fire vehicle in the area of Bensalem Boulevard and Donallen drive at approximately 5:10 p.m.

The driver of the fire vehicle was able to use his radio to call for assistance. A Penndel Fire Truck that was returning from a fire call came to aid the struck William Penn fire vehicle. Upon arrival, members of Penndel Fire Company observed the suspect’s Pontiac stopped at the red-light at Bensalem Boulevard and Hulmeville Road. The Penndel fire truck blocked the vehicle to prevent the man from causing another accident.

According to police the 46-year-old Pontiac driver revved his engine and rammed the Penndel Fire Truck. Police said that a firefighter was exiting the passenger side of the vehicle as the suspect revved his engine. The firefighter was able to get back in the vehicle, avoiding being hit.

The suspect was the only person injured in the accident and police said that alcohol or drugs appeared to be a factor in the accident.

The driver is currently hospitalized and will be charged with aggravated assault, DUI and other related charges, police said.
