FF FALLS THROUGH MOTEL ROOF AT FIRE IN MO

Thursday, December 13, 2012 A firefighter was injured when he fell through a roof while fighting a fire at a Days Inn motel in Liberty, Mo., early Wednesday morning.

The fire was reported at the Days Inn near 291 and 152 Highway in Liberty at about 3 a.m.

Firefighters said the injured firefighter fell about 10 to 15 feet and was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.  He was later released.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.  45 to 50 people displaced by the fire are receiving assistance.

6 to 8 rooms have been gutted by flames.

"We looked out and we just saw people running like crazy with no clothes on, no bags and no belongings," said Amanda Bruce, who was staying at the motel with her husband and two children.

"I just scooped up our babies and took them to the car," Bruce said.
