Five injured after Arc bus and ambulance crash in Waterloo - New York

Wednesday, December 12, 2012 Five people went to the hospital after an Arc bus and an ambulance crashed in to each other in Waterloo. One of the injured was flown to the hospital by Mercy Flight helicopter.

Waterloo Police say a North Seneca ambulance vehicle was going westbound on West Main Street, headed to Geneva General Hospital in emergency mode with a patient on board. Police say the ambulance attempted to pass the Seneca ARC bus which was also going westbound. The bus attempted to yield to the right, striking the ambulance causing the ambulance to veer off to the shoulder of the road, striking and breaking a utility pole.

Two North Seneca Ambulance personnel were taken to Strong Hospital. Amy Kaplan, 22 of Hamburg, was taken to Strong Hospital by Mercy Flight for a head injury. Reginald L. Bailey, 43, of Shortsville, was transported to Strong Hospital by Phelps Ambulance for a possible side injury. Police are not releasing any information on the patient that was in the ambulance.

The driver of the ambulance, William R. Storrs, 24, of Waterloo, was taken to Geneva General Hospital by Finger Lakes Ambulance for evaluation.

The bus driver, Patricia A. Putney, 59, of Seneca Falls, was transported to Geneva General Hospital for possible head and neck injury.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Waterloo Police Department and New York State Police.
