One firefighter fell from an
aerial truck and another firefighter's foot got stuck while fighting a
fire at a North Side home early Wednesday morning.
Officials said the flames started at a home on Grizella Street in the Perry North neighborhood around 5 a.m.
"Someone
slipped and went through a hole that was on the first floor. He was
self extracted and a guy slipped off the aerial truck," said Pittsburgh
Fire Department battalion chief Michael Marks.
Neither firefighter was hurt.
Neighbors said the home was engulfed in a matter of seconds.
"I looked out and I saw flames right away coming out of the corner window," said neighbor Kurt Stull.
Officials
said someone walking their dog in the area noticed the flames and
called 911. The homeowner was not home at the time of the fire.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
