As you know, FF Timothy P. Jansen, 45, who had been a volunteer Firefighter with the Santa Fe FPD in western Illinois for about 15 years, was pronounced dead at a hospital following being struck by apparatus last night.. WHAT HAPPENED: FF Jansen was on the first apparatus that arrived at the scene of that small cottage, and began pulling off hose lines. Somehow he slipped and the truck backed over him. The Firefighter driving the truck didn't know Jansen had fallen, and thought it was OK to move the truck. Once it was discovered, members started treatment immediately, paramedics arrived and transported Jansen to St. Joseph's Hospital in Breese, where he was pronounced dead. Bartelso is a village of nearly 600 residents in Clinton County, about 50 miles east of St. Louis, MO. Jansen used to manage the small town's bowling alley, but more recently owned its restaurant. His survivors include a wife and two young daughters-1st grade and 8th grade. The names of his daughters were used to form the name of the restaurant: MacJenna's. MacJenna's is directly across Illinois 161 from the fire station.
