We regret to advise you that 15-year veteran
Firefighter Timothy Jansen was killed while working to contain a structure fire
last night in Bartelso, Illinois. Bartelso is in Clinton County, east of
St. Louis, MO. Sante Fe Fire Protection District FF Timothy P Jansen, 45, died
in the Line of Duty while operating at the scene of a residential
structure fire. The initial run came out as a wildland/brush
fire at 1930 but as crews arrived on scene, they learned the fire had spread to
a nearby residential structure. Initial reports are that as FF Jansen
was operating at the scene of the fire, he was struck by fire
apparatus. He was rushed to an area hospital where he later died from his
injuries. We'll post updates as soon as they become available. Our sincere
