YORK EMS TECH (ALSO A FF) KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY-CRASH/MEDICAL
EMERGENCY
We regret to
advise you that Champlain (Clinton Co, NY) EMS Driver Eric Monty suffered
cardiac arrest behind the wheel causing the ambulance crash on Route 190 early
yesterday.
At 0017 hours, NY State Police received a call that an ambulance had crashed.
Monty, 45, was driving southeast on Route 190 when the vehicle went off the
road via the west shoulder, struck a drainage ditch, a guywire and an
embankment and stopped. Injured were EMT Susan M. Roberts, 52, is listed
in stable condition for injuries sustained in the accident. EMT Peter A.
Coulombe, 26 was transported and stabilized and then transported to Fletcher
Allen Health Care Center in Burlington, Vt. and is listed in critical condition
with a traumatic head injury. Gary G. Lamarche, 55, of Altona was the original
patient being transported and is listed in stable condition for injuries
sustained in the crash.
The
ambulance, stationed at Mooers VFD, was providing mutual aid to the Altona FD.
Monty was a member of the Mooers VFD. His wife, Norma Jean Monty, died in
October 2010. He leaves a daughter, McKayla A. Monty. Our condolences to all
affected. RIP.

FIRE? WATCH THIS BUS FIRE:
Below is a video link that every Firefighter really needs to
see...it is a fire in a CNG - powered bus, which was occupied and in service at
the time. The driver and passengers discovered the fire and bailed. Good
decision. This happened a few weeks ago in Wassenaar, the Netherlands. The CNG
(Compressed Natural Gas) buses have their tanks on the roof. Thanks to BillN
for the heads up.
